Carlos Arredondo goes to Camp Democracy in DC

9/7 Washington DC: Camp Democracy Immigrant Rights Day and Press Conference at Washington Monument
Tuesday September 5, 11:00 am ET

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2006--On Thursday September 7, when Congress returns to Washington following summer recess, National Immigrant Solidarity Network will organize Camp Democracy Immigrant Rights Day at the Washington Monument. This is part of the 3-week long Camp Democracy event.
WHAT: All-day open event includes press conference, panels,
parades, performances, debates, and a vigil about immigrant
rights.

WHEN: Thursday September 7th, 10:30 AM-10:00 PM
Press Conference: 11:30 AM-12:00 PM

WHERE: Washington Monument, Between Mall and Constitution Avenue,
Between 14 and 15 Streets, Washington D.C.

WHO: National Immigrant Solidarity Network, Camp Democracy,
immigrant families, activists and community members.

WHY: There's no doubt that immigrant policy will be one of the
important issues for the November election, with tens of
millions of immigrant families and community members whose
lives have been devastated by America's unfair immigration
system, and we need to demand Congress to change. It is
critical for the antiwar and immigrant rights movements to
coordinate and support each other's struggle -- activists and
organizers have a particular responsibility to point out the
links between Katrina's impact, immigrant rights, civil
liberties, labor rights and the U.S. war in Iraq.

ABOUT: The event is sponsored by National Immigrant Solidarity
Network (NISN), one of the leading coalitions involved in the
March 25 Los Angeles "Gran Marcha" and the May 1st "A Day
Without Immigrants" General Strike/Boycott. NISN is a
coalition of immigrant rights, labor, human rights, religious,
and student activist organizations from across the country:
Yesterday We Marched, Today We Organized, Tomorrow We'll
Achieve Our Dreams and Goals!
